Step-by-Step Pre-Departure Orientation Guide

Congratulations on joining the Bing Overseas Studies Program!

All students, both admitted and waitlisted, have orientation requirements that you must complete during the quarter before you go abroad (also called the orientation quarter). Failure to complete these requirements may lead to being withdrawn from the program, so please read through and complete each step.

1. Read the Orientation Folder [REQUIRED]

This document contains all of the logistical information that you will ever need to know about your program. What to know when to arrive? Lost when it comes to health issues abroad? Read the orientation folder! Select your folder by using the menu below:

2. View the Online Orientation Module [REQUIRED]

Failure to complete this item by the required materials deadline (January 25th by 4pm) may result in your removal from the program. All students admitted or waitlisted on BOSP quarter-length programs must view the general module AND all modules for programs in which you are admitted and waitlisted in. All students admitted or waitlisted in a BOSP Overseas Seminar are only required to view the Overseas Seminar module. All students admitted or waitlisted in a Consortium program are only required to view the General Module. Select your modules by using the menu below:

3. Complete the Online Orientation Quiz [REQUIRED]

All students admitted or waitlisted on any BOSP programs (quarter-length, consortium and seminar) must complete all modules for programs in which you are admitted and waitlisted in. 4. Complete and submit all Required Materials [REQUIRED]

All students admitted or waitlisted on any BOSP programs (quarter-length, consortium and seminar) must complete and submit all required materials for programs in which you are admitted and waitlisted in. 5. Attend the Orientation Meeting [REQUIRED]

All students admitted or waitlisted on any BOSP programs (quarter-length, consortium and seminar) must attend at least one in-person orientation session. You will receive an email from the Orientation Coordinator as to the dates and times of these orientation sessions at the beginning of the quarter preceding going abroad (also called your orientation quarter).

Students who are unable to attend the regularly scheduled orientation sessions for an excusable reason (course conflicts, etc) may be allowed to attend one make-up session later in the quarter, but you must notify the Orientation Coordinator before the orientation meeting to request a make-up.

6. Attend the Social Gathering (Quarter-length programs only)

Are looking to get to know the other students on your program? This gathering is not mandatory, but it is a great time to get to know all of your fellow program participants before spending the quarter together. Student Advisors for each program schedule these, so look out for their emails inviting you to come hang out.

7. Wrap up your orientation quarter and prepare to depart

You are almost done, but there are a few final items that you should check on before you leave campus:

Any student who does not complete all mandatory orientation requirements will be unable to participate in the BOSP program and their offer of admission will be withdrawn and late withdrawal fees may apply.
