For Faculty and Staff

Primary responsibility for organizing and delivering graduate education at Stanford rests with the faculty and staff in the degree programs, departments, and schools. That said, many policies and resources span departmental and school boundaries. VPGE aims to support innovation in graduate education at Stanford by working collaboratively with others on campus.

University Graduate Education Policies

The Graduate Academic Policies and Procedures handbook (the GAP handbook) is a compilation of university policies and other information related to the academic progress of Stanford graduate students -- from their application and admission, to the conferral of degrees and retention of records. GAP documents include the university policy, along with implementation guidelines, relevant forms, and associated information.

Each department and program establishes its academic requirements and curriculum, and admits and teaches its own graduate students. University-wide policies that effect these areas include:

Problem Solving and Crisis Intervention

VPGE-Sponsored Programs

VPGE works with others on campus to promote cross-school learning opportunities, increase the diversity of the graduate student population, and expand Stanford's graduate fellowship programs.
