This page provides information about specific project-related funding opportunities available through the VPGE office. Note that these are different from the fellowship programs administered by the VPGE which provide stipend and tuition suuport for graduate students.
In addition, some schools, departments and programs at Stanford provide funding for research expenses or for other types of project costs. For example, the School of Humanities and Sciences offers Graduate Research Opportunities (GRO) funding and other programs of support on a competitive basis to graduate students within that school. Be sure to ask in your school or department about funding opportunities that may be applicable.
VPGE has funding available on a competitive basis to support dissertation research expenses on diversity-related topics. Applications are accepted twice each year. See the DDRO web page for more information, including application guidelines and sessions for additional information.
VPGE has funding available on a competitive basis to support projects and events sponsored by recognized Stanford Voluntary Student Organizations (VSOs). VPGE funds projects to advance graduate student diversity by serving the academic interests of current students and enhancing the quality of their educational experiences.
The application deadlines are November 1, February 1 and April 1 of every year.
SPICE Funds support graduate students (master’s, doctoral, or professional) to develop innovative activities to expand the intellectual community of their department or program.
SPICE proposals:
The first group of SPICE awards were made in the spring of 2008. Both department-based and interdisciplinary SPICE proposals have been awarded.
