University-Wide Graduate Academic Policy

University-level academic policies are set by the Academic Senate and the Committee on Graduate Studies (C-GS). VPGE recommends, promulgates and interprets University policies related to graduate education and graduate student support. University-wide policies are supplemented by school and departmental policies and procedures.

Graduate Academic Policies & Procedures (GAP)

The GAP Handbook brings together into one source University-wide graduate academic policies and procedures. The manual includes policy explanation and implementation procedures. Written primarily for staff, faculty and students may also find this helpful.

Stanford University Bulletin

Academic policies and degree requirements for all graduate degrees are outlined in the Bulletin.

Research-Related Policies

Stanford's Research Policy Handbook brings together the various policies, guidelines and resources related to Stanford's research mission. The VPGE site provides a selection of particular relevance to students.
