JWEB

Interested in networking and connecting to other students? Ready to build leadership and social entrepreneurship skills? Do you possess a socially adventurous spirit and naturally love grouping people with like interests to each other and opportunities? You just might be who we’re looking for to join a National Student Leadership Development pilot program, networking with students from top colleges around the country.

The Hillel Jewish Welcome and Engagement Board (JWEB) is an innovative relationship network. It is comprised of a group of 5-10 Jewish students who proactively form relationships with other students, creating a web of interconnectedness on campus. They work creatively, with training and weekly support from Hillel at Stanford staff, to help build connections. JWEBers think critically about the relationships they have formed, connecting people principally to one another, to their own sense of a Jewish self, and where appropriate, to relevant opportunities that may deepen a student’s Jewish experience on campus. Having a Jewish conversation means having an interaction of depth, engaging in the deeper questions of life and identity. Our goal is not restricted to bolstering the Jewish community. Rather, it aims to transform students’ self perception that their history, their knowledge and their identity is welcomed, celebrated, and understood to be an integral part of the Jewish community at Stanford.

We’ll provide $1,000 to spend on YOUR creative initiatives, a birthright trip if you haven’t yet gone to Israel on a peer trip, leadership conferences, Café bucks at the KoPa Café at Hillel, top-notch leadership training through Hillel’s national program, an opportunity to learn from top speakers in social entrepreneurship, relationships with Stanford professors and administrators, recognition at the end of the year as a changemaker in the Jewish community, and more.
