Campus Center Construction Update
Beginning Monday, September 17, construction work on the Welch Road Utility Project (WRUP) will shift from the inboard side of Welch to the outboard side. This might make it more difficult for donors to see the 780 Welch Road driveway. You may want to allow for a little extra travel time prior to your appointment.
Momentous Occasion
On August 20, David "Mitch" Mitchell hit a unique milestone when he became the first person to make 600 donations at Stanford Blood Center. Mitchell began donating blood as a 17-year-old in the Air Force and it quickly became a habit. “It only takes a couple of hours, and once you build it into your life, it just happens,” he said.

Mitch Mitchell celebrates his 600th donation made at Stanford Blood Center. His generosity has helped untold patients in local hospitals.
Friendly Competition
One fun family of blood donors found a new way to keep blood donation interesting. They staged a race to see who could fill his or her bag of blood in the least amount of time. Read more about this friendly competition on our blog.

Heartfelt Condolences to Colorado Shooting Victims
Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the Colorado shooting victims. President Obama responded to the news with this reminder, "Life is very fragile. Our time here is limited and it is precious. What matters at the end of the day is not the small things. Ultimately it's about how we choose to treat one another.
"To blood donors everywhere - Thank you for giving patients and their families the opportunity to share more precious moments.

Extra Giving»
Earlier this year, Stanford Blood Center added two new additions to the donor store. In addition to the traditional store offerings, donors had the opportunity to donate their points to help Lucile Packard Children's Hospital or The Safe Blood Africa Project. Due to the amazing generosity of our donors, our allotted funds for these programs were maxed out in just a few months. See how your donations help on our blog.
