Blood Center

Volunteer Opportunities

We have many volunteer opportunities and our hours are flexible. Be a part of the team providing service to donors and blood to patients in need.

Tessa Moore,
Volunteer Services Manager

Stanford Blood Center offers a wide variety of volunteer positions and opportunities to participate in a worthwhile program. Volunteers may choose among positions at our centers in Palo Alto and Mountain View, as well as at blood drives located throughout the Peninsula and South Bay at businesses, community organizations, schools, etc.

The volunteer program is an integral part of the Stanford Blood Center. Most of our volunteer positions involve interaction with donors and medical personnel. All of our volunteer positions help us achieve our goal of providing blood products to patients in need.

Opportunities Include:

Post-donation Canteen Host: Interact with donors after their donation and monitor their recovery; serve donors refreshments.

Label Table: Prepare blood bags for donors, label donor medical history sheets, donor bags and test tubes, and match labeled bags to donors waiting to donate.

Shuttle Driver: transport blood from blood drives to the lab at the Hillview Center.

Lab Aide: Help with filing, stocking, computer entry, and other lab-related tasks.

Clerical Positions: Assist with mailings, filing, computer entry and other clerical tasks in various departments.
