The students are back from Spring break, and the March weather has gone a bit fickle. Uggs and sweatshirts were the norm today.

Dennis Shak was in Rinc with me in 1976-77, and over the course of the year he and John Friend put together a photo album with a portrait of almost everyone in the dorm. After our 25th, we had the photos uploaded to Kodak Gallery, but they've since been deleted. He dropped the album by the Alumni Center today so we can get them posted again for our 30th. I made him pose by his own photo, and he was a good sport about it. It was fun to go back through the album with him--talk about a walk down memory lane! (Lori Malouf is in the top photo.)

A sunny morning in an empty White Plaza. At least the water is back in the Claw, just in time for Spring Quarter. If you haven't seen them, check out these great Spring Break campus shots by University Photographer Linda Cicero.

I went over to the Cactus Garden today, where I met this "friendly" lizard. There must be hundreds of lizards in the garden--you hear and catch glimpses of them as they scurry out of your path. This guy, missing part of his tail, was content to let me--and my wide angle lens--get within just a few feet of him.

Reflection in Albers Wall, which was installed in 1980 (great year!). I have a vague feeling it was originally over by the old Physics Tank. It is now in a rather obsucre and lonely spot, in a field behind the Littlefield building at the GSB.

It was 33 years ago this Finals Week--in just this spot on Wilbur Field--when it became totally clear to this midwestern soul that California was for me. (The only difference between then and now is that today they are lying on top of a parking garage!)

I happened upon a warm-up session during the NCAA Synchronized Swimming Championships, which were held on campus this weekend. Stanford placed second to Ohio State.

On my walks around campus, it's hard to miss all the kids on school field trips. These guys were taking a play/lunch break in front of the new Visitor Center.

The weather was crazy all day. It was sunny when I got out of my car near Sunken Diamond this morning, and was pouring by the time I got to the Alumni Center. On my way home, it hailed for the first time in 12 years.

Not many photos today, as I headed to Orange County for our Leading Matters event on Saturday. We spent the afternoon getting set up--doing things like untangling nametag lanyards. We were hoping for 350-400 guests at the OC event, and have almost 600 registered. Quite a turnout!

Stanford women's tennis team has won 157 matches in a row at home--the longest active home winning streak of any intercollegiate sport in NCAA Division I. Their last loss was on Feb. 27, 1999  to Cal (boo hiss). Amazing. I'm pretty sure this is junior Hilary Barte, the #1 singles player, who led the team to a 6-1 win over St. Mary's this afternoon.
