Today was the first day of Reunion Homecoming 2010, and I intended to post a shot of alumni back for the celebration. Instead, it was these GSB students who ended up catching my eye. It's not every day you see snorklers in Memorial fountain. (I have no idea what they were doing, other than having a ton of fun!)

Today was the final day for the mandala in the Alumni Center lobby. Here, a monk is putting the finishing touches on it. Thirty minutes later, they brushed all the colorful sand into a pile, put it into small plastic bags, and handed it out to onlookers.

A group of Tibetan monks is creating a sand mandala in the lobby of the Alumni Center. It's connected with the Dalai Lama's visit to Stanford this week. I could have watched them all day. They'll finish next Tuesday, have a ceremony, and then destroy their work. A reminder that nothing is permanent.

Okay, I cheated. I actually stayed home from work yesterday, and took both Monday's shot and this one about 2 minutes apart. Rather than "skip" yesterday, I thought I'd post them both. I guess this is a self-portrait of sorts.
