The posts are hand carved structural members arranged in the typical floorplan for an Iatmul spirit house.
The figures depict various stories of creation, histories of clan ancestors and religious spirits that populate the religious imagination of the Iatmul and Kwoma people.

Light Painting the Stone Rive, by Anirudh Rao, MS '09 and current PhD student in structural engineering.Andy Goldsworthy's "Stone River" sculpture outside the Cantor Center for Visual Arts on the Stanford campus.Took a 7-minute exposure of the Stone River just after midnight while walking from one end of the 320 ft long sculpture to the other with a light blue LED. Took two more exposures, one for the trees and the other for the night sky and blended the three using GIMP.
