Quality Improvement: Working Groups and Initiatives

We strongly encourage participation of residents and faculty in the various Medicine QI initiatives. Please contact one of the listed members or Kambria Hooper for more information before attending the meetings listed below.

Quality Improvement (QI) M&M Conference: 4th Wednesday of the month in S101, 12-1pm

Goals:


QI Noon Conference: 4th Friday of the month in S101, 12pm-1pm

QI Elective resident presents his/her QI project


DOM Professional Practice Evaluation Committee (PPEC) Blake Wilbur W1084; meets monthly on 2nd Friday.

Peer review of cases, Department of Medicine (Chair: Lisa Shieh, MD)


Quality Improvement/Patient Safety Committee (QIPSC) H-3210 (Hospital Administration board room); meets monthly on 3rd Wednesday.

QIPSC provides guidance and support for hospital-wide performance improvement and patient safety efforts and is responsible to the Medical Board and the Quality and Service Committee of the Board of Directors


Care Improvement Committee (CIC) H-3210 (Hospital Administration board room); meets monthly on 3rd Friday.

Provides a forum for the medical staff to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care provided by all individuals with clinical privileges. The committee is responsible for overseeing the peer review process for the medical staff.


Unit-Based Medical Directors (UBMD) H-3210 (Hospital Administration board room); meets monthly on 4th Wednesday.

Collaboration between QI managers, nurses, and hospitalists (Joe Hopkins, MD)


O/E Mortality MSOB x344; meets monthly on Thursday.

Clarence Braddock, Pat Gibbons, Kambria Hooper, Lisa Shieh


DOM Quality Council S-101; meets monthly on 3rd Monday, Department of Medicine

Leadership and division chiefs address core measure data, identify new areas for development as QI/PS initiatives, and address clinical operations/excellence. (Chair Alan Yeung, MD; Co-chair Clarence Braddock, MD, MPH)
