Tamar is interested in investigating how educational technology affects meaningful learning and how people learn to design educational technology. She received her PhD in Technology and Science education from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. She was a staff member at HIT, teaching in the Instructional Systems and Technology department, and a fellow researcher at TELS ( Technology Enhanced Learning in Science ) project at UC Berkeley. Prior to her PhD studies she worked as a game designer, interactive designer, and instructional designer, designing educational technologies and managing projects in the industry (IBM, EduSoft and Tower Semiconductors). Her prior background includes a BSc in Biology and an M.Sc in Biochemistry. Tamar served as a board member of the NSF-funded design principle database project, and was a co-founder and board member of Keshet school, an alternative school in Israel. Currently she lives in Cupertino with her cool husband and three cool children.
