Alfredo is a Masters Candidate for the Learning, Design and Technology program at the Stanford University School of Education. As a member of the Transformative Learning Technologies Lab, he is focused on researching ways to apply machine learning algorithms to leverage the understanding on how students learn. Beyond this, as a Fellow of Lemann Foundation, Alfredo is interested in technologies that can improve Education in Brazil and intends to contribute to attract qualified professionals to the field of Education. He also serves as an advisor for Nosso Futuro, a nonprofit organization co-founded by him with the purpose of providing scholarships to high potential students in underserved communities in the Northeast of Brazil.
Alfredo graduated with honorable mentions in Electronics Engineering from ITA, a renowned engineering school in Brazil. During his graduation he was awarded Fellowships from Fundação Estudar and Fundação Roberto Rocca. He also became involved in several initiatives in Education, being one of the founders of AASD, a nonprofit organization focused on funding student projects at ITA, and participating in a Visiting Student program at MIT. Alfredo was awarded several prizes in Physics and Astronomy competitions and was ranked the top student in two of the most challenging nationwide college admission exams in Brazil, ITA and IME. Alfredo is one of the founders of Geekie, a company that applies technology to deliver a personalized learning experience to hundreds of thousands of students , and believes in the central role played by technology in the undergoing paradigm shift that education is experiencing worldwide. Formerly, Alfredo worked for the Equity Research Division at Credit Suisse and the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs.
Alfredo is passionate about traveling and has been in more than 40 countries. Also, he is an active couchsurfer, having hosted people from various nationalities and surfed more than 20 couches.
