The E-IPER community comprises approximately sixty students, roughly half in the PhD program and half pursuing the Joint MS along with a Stanford professional degree; a growing group of alumni in academic and professional positions in the US and abroad; and over 70 affiliated faculty from all seven schools at Stanford.

- Students
E-IPER students bring diverse academic, professional, and life experiences to create a vibrant intellectual and social community. Students come from over ten countries, have diverse undergraduate degrees, ranging from English literature to economics to environmental engineering, and varied professional experiences from positions at the United Nations and governments, the World Bank, Natural Resources Defense Council, the World Resources Institute, Exxon Mobil, and other influential NGOs and businesses.
- Alumni
E-IPER alumni have gone on to government positions, academic institutions, NGOs, and a variety of fellowships and internships.
- Faculty
E-IPER's Affiliated Faculty members represent an extraordinary diversity of environment and sustainability teaching and research interests, as well as leadership in policy and advocacy efforts. E-IPER faculty teach courses, workshops, and seminars, advise students, and guide E-IPER's future through the PhD Admissions Committee and Executive Committee.

- Staff
E-IPER has a small, dedicated academic staff who manage the program's day to day activity, advise students and monitor degree progress, develop curriculum and program requirements, participate in fundraising, and champion E-IPER and its students wherever they can.
