INTERNAL PROPOSAL DEADLINES
Your Institutional Representative (IR) requires 5 full working days to review and approve proposals.
- Exception: only 2 full working days required for NIH annual continuation proposals submitted under SNAP.
- If your department/school requires review time, it will be in addition to the 5 days required by the IR.
When calculating the "5-business days", be sure to take into account University Holidays. Also, if a deadline falls on a weekend, be sure to check the sponsor's instructions; some sponsors will extend the deadline to the next business day, some will move the deadline up to the previous business day, and some will keep the week-end date.
Additional Information
Receipt Deadline: Proposal must be received by the agency on or before the published deadline. Proposals will be returned to departments in time that they can be overnight mailed in time to be received by the agency on the published deadline.
Postmark Deadline: Proposal must be postmarked by the published deadline to be accepted by the agency. Proposals will be returned to departments in time that they can be overnight mailed on or before the day of the deadline.
Grants.Gov/E-Submission: Proposal must be submitted electronically by the published deadline to be accepted by the agency. For Grants.Gov proposals, it is highly recommended that they be submitted earlier than this date so that any necessary corrections can be made and the proposal re-submitted by the published deadline if necessary. Review your agency’s e-submission guidelines to determine whether there is also a time by which the proposal must be submitted (e.g, 5 p.m. ET; 2 p.m PT). Please remember that institutional representatives will plan to submit your proposal not later than 5 p.m. even if the agency permits a proposal to be submitted later (e.g., midnight).
