Government Partnerships

Work with us to advance basic and applied research that benefits society.

Stanford Engineering has a long history of working with government on projects ranging from laying the foundation for data traffic on the Internet to developing autonomous cars to driving down the cost of solar energy. Recent examples include:

When you can and want to make a huge difference, we make a great partner. Teach a course, mentor a student, share your expertise, recruit students, volunteer. Bring together the brightest people, provide a creative atmosphere and top-notch infrastructure, and who knows what will happen?  Some examples:

• Jen-Hsun Huang Engineering Center – Jen-Hsun Huang (MS ’92, Electrical Engineering) and his wife Lori played an essential role in creating the vibrant new home for the School of Engineering. The Jen-Hsun Huang Engineering Center, which benefitted from the support of many people and organizations, has become a gathering place for today’s students and a hub for such varied activities as entrepreneurship lectures, professional seminars, talks by industry experts, student job fairs and more.
• Hasso Plattner Institute of Design - Named for Hasso Plattner, a co-founder of SAP who provided the funding to create the institute, the "d.school" teaches design thinking to spark innovation and new ideas among students, visitors and businesses. All of the institute's classes are team-taught by faculty and industry leaders, combining disciplines like computer science with political science, and mixing people as diverse as CEOs with elementary-school policy makers.
• Student organizations – share your time and knowledge with students in any one of dozens of engineering-focused student organizations ranging from the Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students (BASES) to Engineers for a Sustainable World to Stanford Women in Electrical Engineering.
