For Tessa St. Rose, working as a clinical research coordinator at the Stanford Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office is both challenging and rewarding.
“I work with people who are driven and self-motivated, some of the best minds in their field,” she says. “Our mission is to use research to give our leukemia patients the latest therapies and novel molecules to treat their condition, to stabilize or reverse disease progression and offer them a better quality of life,” she says.
Of particular value to Tessa, who has worked at Stanford for seven years, are the opportunities the university offers for career advancement to higher level positions and career enhancement through the development of new skills. Tessa first started at Stanford as a clinical trials intern and was later hired as a clinical research assistant before moving to a coordinator role. Throughout her career at Stanford, she has benefited from numerous trainings and courses, as well as supervisory and collegial support. “My current ambitions are to keep growing and learning my therapeutic area, to be the best clinical research coordinator I can be, and to one day manage a clinical research team.”
Another attribute Tessa says defines Stanford is endless progress. “This is a dynamic environment,” she said. “If you like change, you’ll like it here.”
