Scholars at the Institute's research centers conduct research and teaching on such issues as nuclear proliferation, chemical and bioterrorism, democracy and the rule of law, conflict prevention and peacekeeping, international health policy and infectious diseases, and the political economy and regional dynamics of Asia. This work is conducted in collaboration with Stanford's world-class schools of business, earth sciences, education, engineering, humanities and sciences, law and medicine.

The program is a multidisciplinary Masters program dedicated to the study and analysis of the international system. This program offers a three-course certificate program in International Security for professionals seeking a background in international treaties and global policy-making as context for their work. - Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC)
The Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC) is the premiere American program for the teaching of advanced Japanese. The IUC offers a 10-month course in Japan of intensive language training as well as a six-week summer program. - Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE)
The Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE) serves as a bridge between FSI's research centers and K-14 schools across the nation and independent schools abroad by developing multidisciplinary curriculum materials on international themes that reflect FSI scholarship.
