In the face of a terrorist attack, one quarter of Americans said they would use nuclear weapons to stop terrorists.  CISAC Faculty Member and Foreign Policy blogger Amy Zegart  found that American support for hawkish counterterrorism measures, enhanced interrogation techniques, and assassination have increased since similar polls were conducted in 2005 and 2007. Zegart attributes this trend to a lack of controversy about these techniques, the perceptions of political parties' strengths in national security, and the popularity of spy-themed entertainment.
