Elizabeth joined the Haas Center in July 2010 and is
responsible for pairing energetic and passionate Stanford students with preschoolers
at the Ravenswood Child Development Center. Jumpstart, a national nonprofit
organization, works towards the day that every child in America enters school
prepared to succeed. To this end, Elizabeth trains and supports Stanford
students to work individually with young children to build skills essential to
school success. Through consistent, committed and caring relationships and
involving the families of the preschoolers, students are able to form
incredible relationships and foster lasting change. Additionally, Elizabeth
works with students who are excited about early childhood education and helps
them develop the skills and experiences necessary to make a difference.
Elizabeth received a BA Psychology at the University of San
Francisco and an MA in English with a Creative Writing emphasis from Notre Dame
de Namur University. Many experiences have prepared her for her position at
Haas, including her work leading student retreats for the USF University
ministry and coordinating student and alumni events for USF. In addition,
Elizabeth was a preschool teacher before she worked for a national early
childhood literacy organization.
In her spare time, Elizabeth volunteers with Challenge Day
and Tom Caruso Run. She's lived in Florence and Sydney, and has traveled to
more than 18 countries. Elizabeth is a foodie, yogi, an avid camper, and an
aspiring triathlete. She loves to take long walks with her wonderful husband,
beautiful baby girl, and their rescued Basenji/Chihuahua, Pepé Le Pew.
