- Summary
- The National Academies Press (NAP) was created to publish the reports issued by the American bodies National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council. The NAP publishes more than 200 books a year on a wide range of topics in science, engineering, and health. Thousands of books can be read online for free and many downloaded for free.
- Many titles are offered in Adobe PDF format. Many of these books can be downloaded for free by the chapter or the entire book, while others are available for purchase. Many more books are also freely readable online in HTML format. The 'Discovery Engine' feature can be used to perform keyword searches across the full range of NAP publications, and specific subject areas can be browsed as well.
