Transcripts

Current students and students who graduated after 1986 may now order electronic transcripts in pdf format.

See the following documents for more information. Information about paper transcripts follows below.

Only official transcripts are available through the University Registrar. Each transcript has the signature of the Registrar and Stanford University seal. If multiple transcripts are requested to a single address, they are packaged together in one envelope. Envelopes are not signed or sealed (stamped) across the flap. If you require separately packaged transcripts, a signature or seal across the flap of the envelope, or forms attached to the transcripts please see the section on Special Processing below.

  • All paper transcripts are mailed
  • We do not fax transcripts (faxed transcripts are not official)
  • We are unable to provide electronic transcripts for students who graduated prior to 1986.

How much does a transcript cost and how long will it take?

Transcripts from Stanford University are free. Axess requests for paper transcripts are mailed within two business days but can take 7-9 business days to arrive at the destination. If you need your transcript immediately, we suggest that you request an official electronic transcript.

Can I request that my transcript be expedited?

Electronic transcript requests are sent electronically every 15 minutes. Students are encouraged to select the Electronic Delivery Option in Axess for expedited delivery.

Unfortunately, we are unable to facilitate rush orders of the paper transcript. However, students may purchase Federal Express materials and a prepaid envelope and drop these materials off at the Student Services Center, Tresidder Memorial Union, 2nd floor, and they will send out the transcript(s) in the materials provided. Students are encouraged to record the tracking number for future reference.

Can I pick up my official transcript?

Official Transcript: Hold for Next-day Pick-up Option - now available in Axess!

Students who wish to pick up their official transcript in person can now request the “Hold for Next-day Pick-up” option when requesting transcripts through Axess. The transcript will be available for pick up the next business day at the Student Services Center located at Tresidder Memorial Union, 2nd floor.

Will my transcript indicate G.P.A or class standing?

The GPA is not printed on the official transcript and is not released outside the University. The GPA can be viewed on the unofficial transcript in Axess. Stanford does not calculate class standing.

I was at Stanford as a non-registered Student: can I receive a transcript?

If you attended a departmental seminar, certificate program, or conference, contact the department for any records requests. Search for the department on the Index of Stanford web sites page.
