Master's Degrees in Public Policy

Stanford University offers two masters programs in public policy.  A Masters in Public Policy (MPP) is a two-year professional degree and the Masters of Arts in Public Policy (MA) is a one-year non-professional degree.

At this time, only currently-enrolled students in other Stanford graduate programs, and applicants to those programs may apply for either of the public policy masters programs. Current Stanford seniors may apply for the MPP degree (and not the MA).  All Public Policy masters programs require at least one year of study at Stanford beyond the requirements for the other joint or dual degree.

The application deadline for the 2012-13 academic year is April 25, 2012. Earlier applications will be acted upon on a rolling basis. Students applying from the Law School have an earlier deadine of March 16, 2012. Please see the application for more information. (This is not the application for the Coterm program.)

Joint & Dual Degrees

Students enrolled in or applying to the Law, Education, Business, or Humanities/Social Science schools or departments are eligible to apply for Public Policy joint degrees.  All other Stanford graduate students are eligible to apply for a dual degree - either the MPP or the MA - in addition to the degree program in which they are first enrolled.
