COME TO YOUR SENSES (Working Title)
Directed by Aleta Hayes in collaboration with the Chocolate Heads Movement Band

An exploration of BRAIN SCIENCE, Senses (synesthesia), Improvisation and Jazz-- with multi-style Dancers, Musicians, Visual artists and Cross- genre performers-- for 2 performances in the Winter quarter, 2013, (including the *NEW* Bing Concert Hall--the only student group to perform for the opening season of the Bing). This performance experience is part of yearlong project, 'Improvising Identities', a StratLab/IDA collaboration. Performances January 18-19, 2013 and March 8.

Auditions in Roble Gym Studio 38 on Sept. 24 at 7-9pm: Open House + Vision Meeting; Sept. 26 at 7-9pm: Workshop & Auditions; Oct. 1 at 7-9pm: Callbacks and Auditions by Appointment. Please bring curiosity, enthusiasm, & a sense of adventure; music you love to dance to (iPod or CD); music you want to play or sing; samples of your writing or visual art.

liebeslieder re./for.
A dance performance project in collaboration with the Stanford Chamber Chorale and Dancer/Choreographer Yuri Zhukov from Zhukov Dance Theater
Directed by Muriel Maffre

liebeslieder re-/for- will bring together two of Stanford’s steadfast performing arts communities, the Dance Division and the Chamber Chorale in a project drawing upon the classic and historic braiding of poetry, movement and songs as celebrated in Brahms’ Liebeslieder waltzes (op. 52) to highlight the synergy of music and dance. Performances are March 1 at 8pm and May 11 at 8:30pm

Auditions Oct. 1 at 6-9pm in Studio 52, Roble Gym.
Please wear dancewear and socks.

Rehearsals: Class meets Fall quarter on Mondays at 6-9pm and Wednesdays at 6-8pm

5-STAR CHICK
Commissioned repertory work by Denae Hannah, Guest Choreographer, Dance Division.

This episodic dance -- mostly solos -- investigates the impossible cultural demands for perfection faced by African American women, through the prism of pop culture. Humorous, ironic, poignant. Requires both dancing & acting skills. Familiarity with pop culture dance forms a plus. Seeking to cast both women and men. Performances at Dance Division Winter concert on March 8-9; Bay Area Dance Exchange on Nov. 10 & April 20). Additional performances TBA.

Auditions Oct. 11 at 8-10pm. Studio 38 in Roble Gym.
Bring comfortable clothing, sense of humor. You may be asked to speak, improvise.

Rehearsals: Begin Oct 16, Tue/Thu at 8-10pm. Winter quarter, Tue/Thurat 8-9pm. Additional solo rehearsals by arrangement.
