Emerging Leader Retreat

Emerging Leaders Retreat 2010 Group PictureEach Spring the Haas Center hosts an Emerging Leaders Retreat for freshmen (and a few sophomores) who are starting to take on public service leadership roles at Stanford and in communities.

Planned and facilitated by upperclassmen in the Public Service Leadership Program (PSLP), this 24-hour retreat takes place off campus and includes service skill building, community building, personal reflection and goal setting.

Learning outcomes for the Emerging Leaders Retreat:

  • Develop a community of emerging service leaders and connect them to upperclassmen PSLP mentors.
  • Deepen students' understanding of the complexities of public service and connect this learning to their own service story.
  • Expose students to models of ethical and effective service and Haas Center resources and support.
  • Help new students to feel more confident about stepping up as public service leaders at Stanford.

Emerging Leaders Retreat 2011 will take place from 4:00 pm Friday, April 15 to 4:00 pm Saturday, April 16. The retreat can accommodate about twenty students, and attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis. We hope that you can join us!
