Otis Reid receives 2012 Dinkelspiel Award

Otis Reid, BA in Public Policy and Economics, was a 2012 recipient of The Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel Award. This honor recognizes distinctive and exceptional contributions to undergraduate education or the quality of student life at Stanford. The contribution may be made for such activities as curriculum design, program development, advising excellence, residential education, committee leadership, or extracurricular education.

Otis is also graduating with a major in Economics and with honors. He wrote his thesis on the Ghana Stock Exchange through the honors program of the Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law. In addition to the Dinkelspiel, he also received the J.E. Wallace Sterling Award for Scholastic Achievement and the Ann C. Seminara Award for Outstanding Public Policy Senior. At Stanford, Otis has focused on his passion for African economic development. He spent one summer in Ghana at a think tank and another in Ethiopia working on financial inclusion. At Stanford in Washington, he worked on food security in the Office of African Nations at the U.S. Treasury. Otis has also been deeply involved with Stanford in Government, including serving as its chair this year. After graduating Otis will be traveling in Southeast Asia before settling in Chicago to work at McKinsey & Company.
