Communications office wins six CASE medals
The news releases and magazine produced by the medical school's Office of Communication & Public Affairs earned six medals in the national competition sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, known as CASE.
The news releases produced by the office earned a gold medal in the research/medicine/science category of the CASE's 2009 Circle of Excellence competition. The judges called the office's news releases "well-worded and well-written," adding, "They had engaging, interesting topics and made difficult concepts accessible."
There were 18 entries in this category; the silver medal went to the University of California-Berkley. This is the third consecutive year that the Office of Communication & Public Affairs has received the gold medal for its news releases.

In addition, science writer Tracie White earned a bronze medal in the "best articles of the year" category for a story titled "Just another lab rat" that appeared in the Summer 2008 issue of the magazine.
In the judges' comments about the overall magazine, they said Stanford Medicine is "excellent in both editorial and design."
CASE is a professional organization for those in the fields of communications, alumni relations and development at educational institutions. It includes more than 3,300 colleges and universities as well as independent elementary and secondary schools in 54 countries.
