Biography
Stephen Rosenbaum, J.D., M.P.P. is Of Counsel, Law Offices of Michael Sorgen, San Francisco. He served previously as staff attorney with Disability Rights California, specializing in the rights of students with disabilities, and as senior litigation attorney with Disability Rights, Education & Defense Fund. Mr. Rosenbaum has conducted a number of mediations and administrative hearings and numerous workshops for parents, professionals, lay advocates and hearing officers. In 2002, he was named a Harvard Law Wasserstein Public Interest Fellow.
Mr. Rosenbaum has a continuing Lecturer appointment at his alma mater, University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he has taught courses in mental health law, social justice skills, civil rights litigation, cultural competency and student rights. He has written several journal articles on disability, education, lay advocacy and international human rights. In 2008, he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Auckland (NZ) School of Critical Studies in Education. In 2012-13, he has a Visiting Senior Lecturer appointment at the University of Washington School of Law for a portion of the academic year.
