Andrew Gilden joined Stanford Law in 2011. His research and writing focuses on intellectual property law, gender and sexual orientation discrimination, and the intersection between emerging technologies and social identity. His current research explores the rights/remedies relationship within intellectual property law and in particular considers whether copyright remedies can serve as an effective vehicle for substantive copyright reform. Another current project looks at the representation of LGBT youth within recent debates over cyberbullying.

Previously, he worked as an associate in the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where his practice focused primarily on intellectual property and media litigation. He served as a law clerk for the Hon. Cynthia Holcomb Hall of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and for the Hon. Marilyn Hall Patel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and his undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Economics from Brown University.
