Hydro Program in Environmental Earth System Science, Stanford University
The goals of our research are to develop a better understanding of flow and transport processes in subsurface water, to analyze near-surface interactions between water and the surrounding environment, and to develop improved models for water resources management. The scales of physical processes of concern extend from the domain of small pores to vast regional flow systems. In all of our work, we develop conceptual and quantitative predictive models. Such models enhance our understanding of flow behavior and provide means for water-resource evaluation and management. Our investigations focus on field sites and analyses of field data. Recent research topics include: ecohydrology / hydroecology, water resources management in developed and developing regions, groundwater resources evaluation, mechanisms of solute and contaminant transport, innovative remote sensing and geophysical methods for appraisal of the surface and near-surface, and multi-process simulation model development.
