Maggie Crosby has been a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California for 35 years. She has led the organization’s work on behalf of reproductive justice in California. She argued two cases that resulted in California Supreme Court decisions protecting Medi-Cal funding for abortion (Committee to Defend Reproductive Rights v. Myers) and young women’s access to abortion services without parental or court consent (American Academy of Pediatrics v. Lungren). She also worked closely with Senator Sheila Kuehl in authoring California laws protecting access to birth control and abortion and requiring that sex education in California schools be comprehensive, bias-free and medically accurate. She received her J.D. degree from Yale Law School and her A.B. degree from Bryn Mawr College. She served as a law clerk to Robert F. Peckham, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
