Keith Hennessey is a Lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business where he teaches Economics in Government. Mr. Hennessey is an economic policy practitioner with 15 years experience advising elected officials. A forceful advocate for free enterprise, free markets, free trade, and limited government, he has operated at the intersection of economic theory and the messy realities of practical policymaking. He teaches how a bill really becomes a law, and how theory translates into policies that affect the shape and structure of the American economy. |

Keith Hennessey is a Lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He also serves as a member of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, a bipartisan commission created by Congress to examine the causes, domestic and global, of the current economic and financial crisis in the United States. He writes about American economic policy several times each week on his blog, KeithHennessey.com, named one of the 25 best economics blogs by The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Hennessey served as the senior White House economic advisor to President George W. Bush. He coordinated economic policy for the President, including financial market issues, tax policy, energy and climate change, health care, Social Security and Medicare reform, housing, technology and telecommunications, and agriculture. From August 2002 through the end of 2007, Mr. Hennessey served as Deputy Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. During the financial crisis of 2008 he was Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Director of the National Economic Council. Before working in the White House Mr. Hennessey spent eight years on Capitol Hill, most of it working as Economic Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS). He also worked for Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) on the staff of the Senate Budget Committee, and on the staff of the 1994 Bipartisan Commission on Entitlement and Tax Reform. Before coming to Washington in 1994, he spent two years developing software at Symantec Corporation and two years at Harvard where he earned a Master in Public Policy degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He earned a BAS degree in math and political science from Stanford in 1990. Mr. Hennessey is single, lives in Palo Alto, California, and wishes he had a dog. |
