May 19, 2011 :: Professor Giacomo De Giorgi has been elected an affiliate to the Bureau of Research and Economic Analysis of Development.

The Bureau of Research and Economic Analysis of Development, also known as BREAD, is a non-profit organization, founded in 2002, dedicated to encourage research and scholarship in develpment economics. Giacomo has been elected as a  BREAD member in recognition of his contributions to development economics. 


Jan 12, 2011 :: Professor Taylor gives Annual Invited American Economic Association – American Finance Association Lecture.

Professor John B. Taylor gave the annual invited address to the joint luncheon of the American Economic Association and the American Finance Association on January 7 2010 at the Denver Annual Meetings.  Continuing a long tradition going back to 1948, his lecture focused on economic policy with the title “Historical Evidence on the Benefits of Rules-Based Economic Policies” and can be seen here.


Sep 30, 2010 :: Professor John B. Taylor received the 2010 Bradley Prize in Economics.

John B. TaylorProfessor John B. Taylor received the 2010 Bradley Prize for outstanding achievement in economic research and policy. Taylor was presented the award, which carries a stipend of $250,000, by the Bradley Foundation during a ceremony in June at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, along with three other award winners. Due to the Iceland volcano the Arrow lecture series is cancelled. Jean Tirole was scheduled to arrive on campus this weekend from London, England.

Jan 20, 2009 :: Precourt Institute for Energy Efficiency awards Matthew Harding and co-author a major grant.

Matthew Harding and his co-author David Rapson of the University of California, Davis were awarded a major grant by the Precourt Institute for Energy Efficiency. Their project will examine how people make decisions about appliance purchases and the effect that these choices have on energy demand. It will use the latest econometric techniques to model this complex dynamic decision and provide policymakers with insights into the benefits of various market interventions.
 


Aug 09, 2011 :: Emeritus Professor Masahiko Aoki delivers a Presidential Lecture at the 16th World Congress of the International Association

Professor Masahiko Aoki delivered a Presidential Lecture entitled “The Four Phases of Economic Development and Institutional Evolution in China and Japan” at the 16th World Congress of the International Economic Association, which took place July 4-8, 2011 at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Professor Avner Greif organized an invited session on “Economic Performance of Civilization”, Professor Lawrence Goulder on “International Competitiveness, Burden Sharing, and Efficiency in Climate Policy”, and Professor Han Hong on ”Empirical Economic Models of Dynamic Games and Unobserved Heterogeneity” for the Congress. Professor Avner Greif is a new member of the executive committee.

 


Apr 05, 2011 :: Graduate Students Arthur van Benthem and Johannes Stroebel win Working Paper Prize.

The International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE) announced on March 24th that graduate students Arthur van Benthem and Johannes Stroebel won the 2010 Best Working Paper Award. This award is given annually to one paper in the IAEE working paper series. The series contains research related to energy economics and policy.
