Michelle Zimbalist Rosaldo and Francisco Lopes Competitions

The Michelle Zimbalist Rosaldo and Francisco Lopes Prizes are awarded annually by the Program in Feminist Studies for the best essays and MA or Honors theses on women (or a woman), feminism, gender or sexuality, written by any undergraduate, or co-terminal B.A./M.A. student currently enrolled at Stanford. Each prize carries a cash award of $250. The awards are given in two divisions: The Honors Thesis Division (including master's essays) and the Essay Division. The Rosaldo Prizes are awarded to one thesis and one essay in the social sciences. The Lopes Prizes are awarded to one thesis and one essay in the humanities. The prizes are conferred by the Program in Feminist Studies at our annual banquet.

Three BOUND (plastic cover or thin binder) hardcopies of your submission are due in the office of the Program in Feminist Studies by 4:00pm on the announced deadline. Each copy of your submitted essays/thesis must be accompanied by an entry form. No more than one essay and one thesis may be submitted by each student in each of the Rosaldo and Lopes contests. All submissions must follow these specifications: 12pt font, numbered pages, two-sided pages recommended. Submissions should not include any identifying information except for a full title on page one and a shortened title on all other pages.

Diane Middlebrook Graduate Teaching Prize
Nominations Deadline: May, 2011 (TBA), though they are accepted throughout the year for for courses taught Spr 10, Fall 10 & Winter 2011

The Program in Feminist Studies announces a $500 graduate teaching prize in honor of Diane Middlebrook. The prize will be awarded in Spring 2011 to a graduate instructor or teaching assistant in courses focusing on women, feminism, gender and/or sexuality offered in Spring 2010, Fall 2010 or Winter 2011. Nominations may come from students, faculty, or graduate instructors; graduate students are encouraged to self-nominate. The nomination should include a syllabus with description of the nominee's role, teaching evaluations, and letters of support from at least two students. Teaching Opportunities in Feminist Studies for Doctoral Students
Deadline: TBA

The Program in Feminist Studies seeks Stanford graduate students with strong backgrounds in interdisciplinary feminist studies to teach a course on gender, women, feminism, or feminist theory in 2011-12. Preference will be given to students who are writing dissertations.

We are especially interested in courses that do not duplicate our curriculum and that address issues of race, class and ethnicity; gender, technology and science; sexuality; masculinity; cross-cultural issues; children and families; queer studies. Positions will be Teaching Affiliates in Feminist Studies. Up to two course proposals may be selected.

Seeking Teaching Assistants for FEMST 101 Intro to Feminist Studies

The program in Feminist Studies seeks Stanford graduate students with strong backgrounds in interdisciplinary feminist studies to serve as a teaching assistant in FS101 Introduction to Feminist Studies, Autumn Quarter 2011-12.

Please submit your curriculum vitae including a list of relevant
coursework and teaching experience, and a list of faculty references, by the application deadline. Please also submit a recommendation from a faculty advisor or other faculty member familiar with your scholarship and teaching experience. Recommenders may email directly to [email protected]. In addition, please indicate your years of graduate study, expected date of degree, and funding status for 2011-12. Preference will be given to graduate students beyond the third year of study.

Feminist Studies Summer Research Opportunities for Undergraduates
Deadline: Mid April, 2011 (TBA)

The Program in Feminist Studies announces two undergraduate research internships for Summer 2010. Interns will work up to 400 hours during the summer, paid at $13 per hour. Interested students should read the project descriptions by clicking on one of the two projects listed above (TBA) and contact the faculty member directly by Mid April, 2011 (TBA). Preference will be given to students with coursework in Feminist Studies.
