Child Psychiatry Training Program
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training program at Stanford University trains participants as clinicians, preparing them to take on leadership roles in Academic Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Clinical Practice, and Public Service.
The program integrates information from molecular biology, human genetics, developmental biology, the neurosciences, developmental psychology, the behavioral and social sciences, and epidemiology. It is based on the principles of Developmental Psychopathology, which considers human psychological development to be a product of developmental biology, the family, and the broader social and physical environments.
The program is centered at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, with rotations through allied agencies. It has a nationally recognized cooperative relationship with the Department of Pediatrics. Research programs and advanced seminars are also available in other University departments including the Department of Psychology, the School of Education, the School of Law, and the Carnegie Center for the Study of Adolescents.
The program is available to medical students, pediatric residents, adult psychiatry residents, psychologists, and professional colleagues in the community. It is ideal for individuals who are interested in human development and pathology. Participants may apply for advanced fellowship positions upon completion of the program.
