    From the Director: Moving LCLS-II Forward

    Last week, the U.S. Department of Energy conducted a status review of SLAC’s LCLS-II project. Following the review, which focused in part on planning for the possibility of a continuing resolution in fiscal year 2014, we’re working with DOE to refine our contingency plans and keep LCLS-II moving forward.

    From the Director: Moving our Science Initiatives Forward

    Two weeks ago, a number of our researchers presented proposals for scientific directions SLAC should pursue. These proposals represent a large part of the vision and strategy our Scientific Policy Committee has asked me to create, and we plan to initiate funding for many of these projects in FY 2014.

    Five years from now, LCLS will be a very different facility operating in a very different scientific climate. We will maintain our leadership position in this new environment by making the right choices and having the full support of an excited, motivated and creative staff, not just at LCLS, but throughout the lab.
