Bing Concert Hall opening leads to parking, traffic changes

The opening celebrations at the Bing Concert Hall this weekend may cause some parking and traffic challenges beginning Friday afternoon and lasting through Sunday.

On Friday, parking in front of the Arrillaga Alumni Center on Galvez Street and parts of Memorial Way will be reserved after 4:30 p.m. for opening night. In addition, in front of Bing Concert Hall, Lasuen Street (from East Campus Drive to Roth Way) and Museum Way (from Lasuen Street to Palm Drive) will be a no-parking zone after 6:30 p.m. Traffic will be one-way along Lasuen Street.

Saturday is Community Day at Bing Concert Hall, and general parking is recommended in the Galvez Lot and on Lasuen Street, Museum Way and Roth Way. An open house and several concerts are scheduled from 12:30 to 11 p.m. Special event personnel will be directing traffic throughout the day and evening.

Sunday features 2:30 and 7 p.m. concerts. General parking is recommended in the Galvez Lot and on Lasuen Street, Museum Way and Roth Way.

The events are ticketed and most are sold out.

To hear Friday's concert, tune in to the live broadcast on classical station KDFC 104.9/90.3/89.9. The concert begins at 8 p.m.
