The Ginzton Laboratory is organized as an Independent Laboratory, which reports to the Dean of Research. Most of the faculty and students come from the departments of Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.

Most of the research groups in the laboratories have strong collaborations with many other departments and laboratories in the School of Engineering and School of Humanities and Sciences.

The interests of the faculty and students span from basic device physics and associated materials research through novel devices to applications and systems.
