Mark Twain Centennial

On April 21, 2010, the 100th Anniversary of Mark Twain's death, the Stanford Bookstore will honor his memory with a reading of excerpts from "The Mark Twain Anthology: Great Writers on His Life and Works", edited by Shelley Fisher Fishkin.

Shelley Fisher Fishkin, Professor of English and Director of American Studies at Stanford, will read brief selections from various writers who pay homage to Twain including: Roy Blount, T.S. Eliot, Helen Keller, Toni Morrison, Barack Obama, and many others.

ZACHARY BAKER, Reinhard Family Curator of Judaica and Hebraica Collections, Stanford University Library, will read (in original Yiddish and English) a brief selection by Maks Erik that he translated for the book.

CINTIA SANTANA, lecturer in the Division of Literature, Culture, and Languages at Stanford will read (in the original Spanish and English) a brief selection on Twain from "Escenas Norteamericanas" by Jose Marti that she translated for the book.
