Undergraduate Housing Residence Chart 2013-14

This chart is designed to give students applying for housing more information about the residence options available on the housing application. Please note that staff spaces or rooms reserved for Freshmen and Transfer students are included in the “House Size” column below, but not in the “Draw and Pre-assignment Space for Upperclass” column. Listed spaces will be allocated to students who are pre-assigned through Residential Education and assigned through the Draw, Waiting List and Continuous Assignments rounds. Although we make every effort to verify the accuracy of the chart at time of publication, last minute changes in the number of house staff, the number of Freshmen or Transfer spaces, the number of OAE assignments, and in-house configuration due to construction (and therefore the number of certain types of rooms available to students for assignment) may not be reflected. Students are encouraged to make a robust list of residence choices on their housing applications.

Please note: Students draw into a specific room type for most undergraduate residences. For non-Row residences, each room type will be listed (single, 1-room double, 2-room double, triple, quad). For Row Self-Operated Houses, students can choose between “Premier” (defined as singles and 2-room doubles) and “Standard” (every other room type in the house). Specific rooms and roommates are decided at the in-house draw.

Special Program Type Co-ed Type
No You do not need to meet prerequisites in order to live in this house.  Residence is considered to be part of the final choice “I am willing to accept any other assignment." C House is coed by corridor
(men and women live on the same floor).
Yes This residence requires all residents to meet certain program related prerequisites in order to live in the house.  The house also has the option of pre-assigning a certain number of residents in order to build the special program. Please see the Residential Education website for details. F House is coed by floor
(men and women live on different floors).
Pre-assigned
students
This house requires the students who are pre-assigned into the residence to meet certain program related prerequisites and to participate in the house program.  Students who draw into the house are encouraged to participate in the program, but are not required to meet the program prerequisites. W Residence is single sex (all women).
Draw The assignment program automatically considers certain applicant characteristics when considering a student for assignment to this residence. (Sophomore standing for Toyon and FroSoCo, ethnicity for portions of the cross cultural theme houses and Hammarskjold
and a draw group of 3, 4, 6 or 8 for Suites)
