APPLICATION HOUSING FOR 2011 IS NOW CLOSED EXCEPT FOR SHORT-TERM GRADUATE STUDENTS

Convenient and Affordable Housing is Available June 18 - August 14, 2011 (Except Oak Creek, which will be available until August 19).

Stanford Conferences offers studio apartments, 1-bedroom apartments, 2-bedroom family apartments, and shared 2- and 4-bedroom apartments on a space available basis for eligible 2011 summer campus visitors (age 18 and over) who are attending a conference or workshop, studying or conducting research with Stanford faculty, or coming to Stanford for some other academic purpose.

Housing is available in graduate residences. Most are located in close proximity to the center of campus. Linens and housekeeping are not included, except in the one housing option reserved for stays of fewer than 14 nights. Basic furnishings are provided, but this does not include kitchen utensils, dishes, pots, pans, linens, televisions, cleaning supplies, or decorations. Please be aware that this housing does not offer all of the amenities of a hotel. Utilities and use of laundry facilities are included in the nightly fees (except in the 2-bedroom family apartments at Oak Creek). Smoking is not allowed in any building or within 20 feet of any building entrance. No pets are allowed. No long-term guests are allowed.

Depending on the housing location, summer guests can enjoy such amenities as optional Internet and phone line activation, common lounge areas, swimming pools, and fitness centers (some services and amenities are available on a fee basis).

Application Information:

To apply for Stanford non-student summer housing, please locate the section below that most closely matches your reason for being on campus. There is a link to a page with detailed information on your housing options, including rates.  On the application you will have the opportunity to request linen and parking permits.

Please have a MasterCard or Visa credit card ready when you submit the application, as you will need to pay a $35 application fee. The $35 application fee is non-refundable unless we are unable to offer you an accommodation. 

Any cancellations must be done by sending an e-mail to summerhousing@stanford.edu.  Cancellation date will be recorded as the date that the e-mail was sent.

If you are a non-student Stanford summer visitor who is not attending the BAOC course above and are at least 18 years old, you will need to use the Non-Student Stanford Summer Housing application.

Stanford Graduate Students Needing Short-Term Housing Before Autumn Quarter Begins:

Housing is available at the end of summer quarter for graduate students needing to arrive on campus before their on-campus room is available for move-in, or as a place to stay while looking for housing off-campus through the Community Housing office.

Important Information for Staying on Campus:

Parking Permits:
Parking permits are required for campus parking, and can be requested through the application or from the Front Desk once you arrive on campus. Daily Conference Parking Scratchers are $4.50 and Monthly Conference Parking Permits are $24.25.

Telephone Service:
Local telephone service is available in your room for an additional charge. For information regarding additional phone services, please visit http://www.stanford.edu/services/telephone/conference.

Internet Access:
Internet service during your campus stay is available through Stanford's Residential Computing department for an additional charge. Prior to arriving on campus, it is important that you make arrangements for Internet service by visiting Residential Computing's website at http://rescomp.stanford.edu/conferences. Please note that you will need to supply your own Ethernet cable. In certain campus locations (excluding the residences) wireless Internet service is also available. As referenced above, arrangements for wireless and/or wired Internet services need to be made through Residential Computing, prior to your arrival at Stanford.

Library Access:
Guests are eligible for on-site access to most University library collections by presenting a valid Conference ID Card, issued upon check-in. Please note that your Conference ID Card does not confer borrowing privileges. Athletic Facilities:
The Stanford Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation sells daily and weekly passes for accessing most campus athletic facilities, including swimming pools, weight rooms and other types of facilities. A Conference ID card is necessary for purchasing a daily or weekly athletic pass at the Arrillaga Family Sports Center (Suite 210), Monday-Friday, 8 A.M. - 12 P.M. and 1 P.M. - 5 P.M. (hours and purchase location subject to change). Athletic passes are not sold on the weekends. For weekend use of these facilities, please purchase your pass in advance. Shopping and Transportation:

Marguerite
The Marguerite is a free shuttle operated by Stanford University that provides weekday service throughout the campus and many surrounding areas.  Lines RP and V go to California Ave, a popular downtown Palo Alto destination with a wide variety of restaurants.  Lines S, X, and Y all run along the edge of the Stanford Shopping Center, a large open-air mall conveniently adjacent to campus.  Line SMP provides service to downtown Menlo Park, which features a variety of shopping and dining opportunities.

VTA
The Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) operates bus routes throughout Santa Clara County.  Line 22 goes south from the Palo Alto Transit Center along El Camino Real and provides easy access to many business establishments, including the San Antonio Shopping Center at the intersection of El Camino and San Antonio Road.  The fare is $2 for a one-way, non-transferable pass or $6 for an unlimited all-day pass.  Stanford University is not affiliated with the Valley Transportation Authority.

2011 Stanford Dining and Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries Retail Option:

Stanford Dining is a national award-winning program that showcases high quality, nutritious food in an attractive, safe and fun environment. Please click here for 2011 summer dining information. Guests have the option of purchasing "Cardinal Dollars" prepaid meal cards from the Stanford Dining Customer Service office upstairs at Tresidder Memorial Union or at Stanford Dining Central Office at 693 Pampas Lane. Each Cardinal Dollars meal card can be purchased in any amount. Each card valued at $100 or more will receive 10 bonus Cardinal Dollars.
